After a brief conversation with a friend, I decided that the issue of justice needs to be discussed. How is it fair for police officers to plant drugs on people and how can we have justice when there is unjust actions being taken by the people who are supposed to be protecting us.
Two different children of a police office have said to my friend that their parent that is a police officer has planted drugs on an individual. This was a known fact to the children of the officers and that is where I am basing the arguments I am making. Although, I will be discussing more of the overall issue, rather than the individual instances I have heard. Basically, the information I acquired from a friend spawned a thought process.
One has to think if the cop planting drugs out of suspicion that the individual uses drugs, or that they have had leads and tips. Sometimes cops do illegal measures to get information, but they can't use the evidence to actually convict a person. Possibly with this route, the cops plant the drugs since they know the individual uses or traffics drugs. Still, why should a cop be able to attain information illegally?
Do police in general have an overall gray area that gets tapped into when the black and white elements of their job are not enough? Somehow, the whole gaining information illegally seems to be rather unethical. If the information was gained illegally to find information on a child molester though, people would most likely be less resentful of the actions taken. This leads me to believe that the seriousness of the crime affects when the gray area can and should be entered.
Swinging back to the issue of planting drugs on an individual, the gray area seems to be less present and needed. This is also that I am assuming the cop is planting the drugs on other evidence that has been found. Almost as if they are taking the act of hunting out of the actual act of being a hunter and are just using unethical ways to lure the animal in and then blow them up. Odd picture when you think about it, but this metaphor seems to hold some substance in this situation. To me, how sure could a cop be to begin with? If you find drugs on person then you found drugs, but if you plant them you are only furthering the decay of our justice system.
When you plant drugs, you are saying that we do not need to justly convict you of possession. What they are saying is that, we can just catch you if we want to, even if you have done nothing wrong to begin with. This whole scenario bothers me greatly.
Will I get drugs planted on me by a cop, because I am wearing black cloths and seems different from "model citizens"? When they cop sees me will he assume information, because he doesn't like the way I look? Maybe just out of dispute for me he will plant drugs?
Any of these questions have me thinking there is something wrong with the justice system and the employment, or overall atmosphere of the police force.

Hey John,
Yeah, doesn't it suck to be fearful of the cops all the time? Now you don't have to do anything wrong to get in trouble, and they are usually nasty to you but you can't do anything about it. I guess, the only thing you can do is be in a suit, be white, and a few other things to not get in trouble. Even white doesn't count too much, and even wearing a different fashion could get you in trouble, or even if you acted gay. It sucks. You look good in black though, so don't change that.
See ya,
:-*
very well written and it's a very interesting topic
i would definitely say that cops planting evidence screws up the whole justice system. and even more than that it screws up the global karma.
Everyone knows that they shouldn't do it, but that's obviously not stopping them. You know Cops have always had that 'holier than thou' attitude and I don't think they're ever going to succomb to that.
They're going to plant drugs on people, and probably feel good about themselves when they get convicted, reguardless if it's out of truthful circumstances or not.
Obviously not all cops do that, but it's never like we'll know which ones are honorable or not, my guess is if that ever happens to you- get a good lawyer, you'll need it.
